Ceiling Fan Downrods

I was looking online for an angle mount fan bracket. I found the angle mount brackets but I kept seeing downrods for angled ceilings. What would be the difference between just a downrod and one for an angled ceiling? They both look the same to me.

I've seen brackets and domes for angled ceilings, but, other than length, not rods specifically for them.

The ones I’ve seen use the same type of rod for angle and straight mount. For angled ceilings, the mount had a “slope adapter” that the rod attaches to. The rod always ends up vertical.

I don't believe they are any different. They just used different terminology perhaps when they advertise for the sloped ceiling adapter.

I know about the adapter, I was asking about the downrods. I can't see what would make them different.
The one posted above looks like it likely is intended to work on steeper pitch than most that you commonly see.

I don't see any difference. The ball goes on the end of the rod just like any other rod. The other end would screw into the top of the motor just like any other rod.

That went over my head
Was that a serious reply or a joke?

A down rod for a horizontal ceiling can be arbitrarily short, as needed based on roof height and desired fan placement.
A down rod for an angled ceiling has a minimum required length based on the angle, and the blade length.

I was serious. I get what you meant on the length now. Lol I thought the extra length was a given to clear fan blades

I've hung many fans that may hang on a ceiling that steep but the ball wouldn't be seated properly in the socket at that angle either. They just designed with more of the ball recessed into the socket and the rod would hit edge of socket if mounting angle is too great.

That's where the adapter comes in, so the rod can hang straight without hitting. But the rod should be the same.

Maybe was some misunderstanding, I can see some adapter working for this but most the hardware that comes fans won't work on much more than maybe 5 or 6 -12 pitch ceiling, and is why I mentioned that particular one looks like designed for steeper pitch ceilings. That one looked like it works on almost a vertical surface if the width of the fan isn't going to cause problems
