A friend has a dining room ceiling fixture (rough-in) that has One black, one white and one red wire (controlled by two seperate wall switches). He installed a ceiling fan which had one black, one white and one black with white stripe wires. He attached the black (from ceiling) to the fan black and black w/white stripe, and the white from ceiling to the fan white. The red wire from ceiling was not attached to the fan. Fan/light works great but from only one switch. Should he have attached the red wire from ceiling with the black wires to be able to operate fan from both switches?
