Does anyone know on here if cell towers are two phase or three phase installations?

I'm looking at getting electrical wiring to a site, and have one of two options. A primary line extension will be required in either case and about the same length. The first option run the line east from the street, but that is only 2 phase. The other option is to run the line west from a cell tower, which would be great if it was 3 phase. The customer prefers 3 phase at the site but doesn't want to pay and arm and a leg.

Any guesses on the cell tower?

(Yes, I know I can talk with the power company. I'm hoping someone on here has worked on cell tower installations and knows the answer off the top of their head.)

Thanks

If you mean 1ph vs 3ph, the only one I've done received 120/240v 1ph from the POCO, and from a power inlet for a portable genny.

I have comm. towers that are both. No real advantage one over the other except if you go three phase go with 208/120. The majority of the loads will be 120v. There may be some dc rectifiers which may be 208/ 240v 1ph. Depending on how much and or any work you are going to get into with the interior wireing you must know what you have before ordering things like the gen. set and discos, MDP, surge suppressor, ups and A/C units.

All of the ones that I've put generators on have been single phase, of course these were rural mountain top towers, with a few rural interstate towers. Those in the big city tend to be three phase because it's available, and there are usually a lot more carriers sharing the tower. (multiple metering also)

Cell towers - 2 phase or 3 phase?

I had a contract back in 2000 to facilitate 130 communication shelters for a fiber optic network. All but one were 120/240 split phase. In one Utah community the local coop power company insisted on balanced 3-phase, or no service. We ended up with a motor-generator there so all the interior equipment was the same.
