I have always thought, but can't substantiate, that the max overcurrent device for the heating sections of a central heat & air unit was 60 amp.
The overall feeder OCP might exceed 60, but somewhere there would need to be individual OCP not greater than 60.
Am I correct in thinking, if it's a "split unit" Art 440 would apply to the compressor, and Art 422.12 would apply to the air-handling heat unit?
If its a package unit, then Art 440 would apply to the entire system?
In either event, I don't see the 60 amp maximum I thought applied.
(I see that in 422.11(F) but that would not seem to apply to Central Heat as 422.12 specifically addresses C>H. )
