Certification requirements for MV cable accessories

Hi Mike, I have been advised that one of the changes for the 2011 NEC is that all medium voltage splices and terminations must be performed by factory certified contractors. Is this true?

Mike rarely posts on the forum so I hope you don't mind me answering your question.

A new section was added to the 2011 NEC that requires Type MV cable to be installed, terminated and tested by qualified persons. (See 328.14)

Now the definition of "Qualified person" in the NEC does not require any specific certification to be considered a qualified person.
