I hate phone calls from the MIL at 6:50AM you never know who died.

Well, she called to tell me about the gun shot she heard and how she looked all over for the bullet hole in her walls. Ok. Then she asked if them new fangled lights are as dangerous as she reads. Dramatic end of life for another CFL. Blew the glass off, intact, and it rolled across the carpet where she finally nudged it with her foot while looking for holes. I made her feel safer about all the poisons she (a 50 year smoker) was worried about. When I asked where she got the lamp, I got the blame. Then she asked me for one of those longer chain things because, and she doesn't know when, but I snuck over and raised the ceiling in her bedroom again. She is 82 and made my day.

Incandesents are getting pretty bad too nowadays, putting in some in a vanity yesterday, and one broke with absolutely no effort, was able to to crush another one easily with leather gloves on, glass was very thin, and was actually flexible. I've had several lately that popped violently when I turned on the switch.
