I think for the most part you get what you pay for.

They really don't need to KNOW anything. IMO they're only here to keep us from each others throats, and keep the site clean. The fact that they do KNOW quite a bit and participate puts them all outside the Janitor/Referee role it could be.

most are marked "not to be used with dimmers" or somthing similar, but they do make compacts that are dimmer rated, they cost quite a bit more though...
