CH Breakers Popping Out?

The new ones, we read a post on another site, where someone up NY state was getting bad ones from his supplier, today we had it happen to us, as soon as you try to insert it, they pop back. Chris do you use a lot of CH Classic loadcenters and breakers?

Satcom, Can't help you with that. My thought was that the PNL was mounted warped or distorted. That will put the buss out of line with the butt end holder. This is bummer with bolt ins. A little tweak here and there, it will line up.

Aparently, they have a made a subtle change to the buss in the CH panels. The CH breakers were always famously "tight" when plugging them on. It seems there might be a new buss design that won't hold the breaker tight, and they "pop" off. Dandy. I havn't experienced this yet, but if it's true, it's a really big deal.

I wonder why they fixed something, that was not broke. That change was a few years back, you would of thought the problem would of showed up then. Have you see the new covers, they are real thin, If they are trying to cut costs, they are shooting themself in the foot.

Are you talking about the new "Easy Trim" for the 20" wide commercial panels? They're really super nice. I havn't noticed the regular CH covers being thin. How long has this been? If it's only been a short while, it's possible my vendor has a mess of the old version in inventory.

The breaker thing though.... I hope your experience is an isolated one.

Yup the new covers, It is not just my experience, it appears others are having problems also, I sure hope someone is looking into the issue, and hope it has a quick fix, whatever it is causing it.

I just had a feeling it was over when they changed the bus a few years back.

I dunno about the 20" comm panels but I did a residential CH 100 to 200 amp service upgrade on Sat, when I installed breakers across from each other the opposing breaker would continually pop out. It was only the first few rows doing this and when I installed them lower on the bus by itself it was fine. As said..must be the new copper bus. A big PITA

That is what has us confused, it's not all the breakers, just like you said it's every panel rejects a few, there is something going on with that buss, now my guys tell me it's not a new issue, they have been having this problem since the new bus design came out, a few years ago. Just can't figure why they would change something that was proven. Well that was the last of the good ones.
