I believe MH put out a notice on certain CH Safety Switches not working properly. We now have a ‘card’ notifying us of the problem and we need to notify our customers that they may have some units. Simple enough. We know who, how many etc and that will go out in the mail this coming week.

Anybody go through a recall like that before? How do they handle repairs?

Eaton and Cutler Hammer. IDK about C Hinds.

Looking at the repair instructions, we’ve done it in the past but IIRC, it was a PP. Mechanisms the same I would imagine.

Ah yes, CH=Cutler Hammer. I first thought of Crouse-hinds. :slaphead:

If it's like the Sq D recall you go to the switch, throw the handle off, check and make sure there is no power, throw the switch back on and walk away.
Might have been procedure on a specific recall.

Otherwise all the Square D recalls I been involved with needed you to first verify if it was a model in the recall and if the date code falls within the date codes affected by the recall.

Had I line breaker recall once, but was only certain breakers and certain date codes on those particular breakers.

Ended up having to purchase replacements, return the recalled units, then deal with headaches of getting proper credit - but that may have been more of a supply house management issue than a Square D issue. I'd get credit issued then few months later after they had done some internal auditing, they charged me again for the replacements - and of course tried to charge me interest for non payment on top of it:huh:
