chain hung luminaires

Some chain hung luminaires have a bare grounding conductor, separate and independent of the fixture wire supplying the fixture.
I'm assuming luminaires with this separate grounding conductor must be hardwired (no attachment plug), but I'm not finding the specific articles related to this. Any help would be appreciated.
