That's what they are.

But where to buy them?

If you promise not to tell anyone else I will let you in on a secret. You can buy stuff from the Internet without leaving your seat. Of course this may be a Chandelier Chain plier emergency so he may need it ASAP.

I have a pair that are silver with red grips, and a pair that have a gold painted finish. They both work okay, but they're hardly finely engineered tools. Does anyone know of a chain plier that won't squeeze the paint off painted chain when you're opening or closing links?

That's not a function of the pliers. It's a function of the poorly applied paint or finish.

I just tape up the ends of my channel locks. I've never had any complaints and most of the ones that I have done were in million dollar homes.

No kidding? It just seems like someone should have made a really nice pair of chain pliers by now that doesn't do that, even with junk chain.

I would have figured that you would have an electroplating kit in the truck to refinish the chain links. ;)

i'm with you on that. Those things are a waste of tool storage space.

What about that plastic handle stuff that you can dip tools into to make them have plastic grips, but just dip the 'chain squeese' part in it?

Did that make sence? :-?

I think I have the same pair of gold painted finish as you do.

If you throw a roll of pennies into your pool clip one megger lead to your chain tool and let the other lead rest by the skimmer you could crank for 30 min and it would plate your pliers!!

I want my cell to have battery power when I call my wife at break or lunch, and especially because she is pregnant. I have started turning it off during work hours.

In 10,738 post you have never not know the tool or where to buy it, you feeling OK?

I don't even think what I want is being made. Just sorts jogged my memory when I saw this thread about chain pliers. Pretty much every tool an electrician uses is available in a high quality version, if a person wants to buy it. The chain pliers on the market all seem like they're drop forged from pig iron in a third world country .
