Change of contractor of 05 code in 08

I'll be wiring a small room addition next week(Nov) ; and will do a (change of contractor)permit change to my business name. In reguards to NJ , the 08 code changes are in effect as of october. If the original permit was approved before that time; will I be able to still adhere to the 05 or have to work under the new code changes of 08 ?
