Have a 225A Federal Pacific 3-phase (delta),120/240 that is recessed in a block wall with conduits all in the block wall.

They want it changed out. Is there a way to use the existing enclosure and change out the guts?

I tried to upload a pic, but the upload manager won't allow the pic to upload for some reason...

Call SQ D or Eaton (Cuttler Hammer), either one will custom build and list an interior and cover for the existing enclosure. It will be costly though.

Thanks!

Thanks!

It might be expensive but might save a lot of labor!

Not sure what other options there are...

Turn it into a junction box and run lines to a new location for panel - if you have a place to put one, as well as a way to get out of it with the necessary raceways.

Have done that before.

Nipple out the back side and put panel right there is easiest if you can place a panel in that location.

Have used SQ D to do it at hospitals and it cut shut down time to less than two hours.

It may still be in production, in Canada under Federal Pioneer, now owned by Schneider. So you may be able to just buy a new interior, if that's the problem.

If the issue is that someone heard that "Federal pacific is dangerous and needs to be replaced", they are getting bad information. The ONLY thing in their product line that was deemed "dangerous" were Federal Pacific Stab-Lok residential plug-in load centers. The industrial / commercial gear is as good as anyone else on the market and like I said, still exists in Canada.

Yep. Their loadcenter covers are hideous tho no more so than any other panel of the vintage.
