I am wondering if there is an extension pole on the market for changing out vertically mounted compact fluorescent lamps. I have an application above a stairwell that is next to impossible to reach by any other method than a scaffold. Not very cost effective for changing lamps. Any Ideas?

Re: Changing compact fluorescent lamps

i have been changing lobby and stairwell compact vertical screw in lamps for years. one law firm has over sixty in their main lobby. they originally had horizontal medium based lamps in this area! it was costing them a bundle -- it required us to move a geni lift and also set scaffolding over two large stairwell areas. we converted the side mount sockets to vertical using a factory assembly and then began using compact flourescents when they came on the market! they noticed less air conditioning problems in this area when we changed over. over the years i think it would have been more cost efficient to change all the lamps out--say every two years(?). we didn't see a pattern until we were servicing these type areas for some period of time--- and then of course the cost of the lamps has dropped alot! we improvised a cardboard insert into the pole lamp changer and since this area is 28 feet high, we use two men. one on the lobby floor and the other on the upper balcony with the new and old lamps---the pole never comes down---we just lean it over to the stairwell...
