Changing frequency in AC circuits

Other than buying a freq drive does anyone know how to build a circuit that will change AC frequency in 120 Volt AC?

I want to build an AC magnet but I need to increase the frequency from 60 Hz to at least 400 Hz.

The circuit I'm building is experimental but has a specific application that would make the device very valuable.

How much power are you talking about? Switch mode comes to mind.

Easy build a 555 oscillator, build a amplifier big enough for what you need, then just drive the amp with the oscillator. It's that simple!

Or just go down to your local army surplus store and get a power supply you need. 400hz was used widely in the air force for avionics. Do a search for 400hz power supplys on the net.
