Changing rotation on single phase water pump

I have a Dayton single phase 1/2 hp jet pump motor which circulates water in a jacuzzi tub. When I hook it up it runs backwards. It was manufactured by Oberdorfer Pumps and has only 5 connection points. Hot is on number 1 and neutral goes to number 4. I have been told that it is not possible to reverse the direction on single phase motors... can someone help me?!
 
I would think there has to be a way of reversing it.

You probably oughta get an electrician to look at it.
 
With five leads, you might be able to change rotation. Q: How do you know it is running backwards? I ask cause centrifigal pumps pump the same direction whether they are run forwards or backwards - just don't pump as well running backwards. However, maybe it's not a centrifigul.

If the connection information is not listed on the nameplate, I'd probably call the mfg.

With the information you have given, it would worry me the pump was turning the wrong direction - from the factory no less? That's odd.

I thank you for your help! ... it is not new... the previous home owner had it disconnected... maybe I know why now? I took the housing off the pump and watched it start up and it is backwards becuase the vanes mounted on the shaft are curved(directional) it simply chops the water instead of pushing it! Chris Kennedy's post says to

Interchange the connections of either the main or the auxiliary winding.
How do I know which are which...

If it's a capacitor start motor, all you have to do is reverse the capacitor leads.

Dayton diagrams are pretty easy to get, since that's the Grainger house brand. What's the Dayton stock number? The fact that this tub has a Dayton motor causes me to believe that someone has replaced it at least once, since not very often will you find a Dayton motor as an OEM part unless the whole assembly was purchased from Grainger (like exhaust fans, AHU's, etc.). They don't sell tubs, near as I know. It is completely possible that someone bought the wrong replacement motor.
