Will someone explain the intent of having the compact conductor table versus the Conductor Table, such as Table C1 Conductors, and Table C1a Copact Conductors.

As you can see from comparing the tables, compact conductors are smaller thus in many cases allowing a greater number of the same AWG size in the same size and type of raceway.
