Chase nipple between cabinets

These work nicely for metal outlet outlet boxes. I have only seen them up to trade size 3/4. Since you said cabinets, I assume you want something larger. I have seen 2 chase nipples used in combination with a threaded coupling. I believe that technically is a listing violation.

But I would use a locknut between cabinets just to provide that little space, like you said. Or if you prefer a bit more, use a close nipple.

Is there any issue butting up two cabinets and using a Chase nipple? There's something I don't like about it but I can't really state what it is. I kind of want to put a locknut between the two. 🤔
Wouldn't having two locknuts in between be better, particularly with the locknuts that have sharp points on only one side (and so the sharp side would face the cabinets)?
Is there a box spacer available for the size you need?

It looks like tank728 beat me to it :)

So this is larger, 4" and service equipment.
A CT cabinet and a swichboard. The locknuts are bonding locknuts on the CT side.
I was going to say bonding is the only issue, but since it is service application aren't both cabinets bonded to the grounded conductor anyway? All you need is a bonding bushing/locknut/etc to assure bonding of the nipple - only because it is containing service conductors. If it were a feeder and no eccentric/concentric KO's only a standard locknut is needed. Bonding jumper between cabinets may still be needed if the cabinets are coated/painted. If unfinished/galvanized their direct metal to metal contact along with tightening of the locknut(s) is a sufficient bond between cabinets.
