Have a 800Amp, 480/277V switchboard main service switchboard in a new Chicago building (pump station).
Does it have to be in a dedicated electrical room?

I may not be a hundred percent correct on this but I don't believe it has to be a dedicated electrical room however it does have to have the correct fire rating for the walls and the door.. I believe it would be different if it was the main gear. I'll check my Chicago code when I get home.

I don't see anything in their amendments to Article 230 that would require a dedicated electrical room.
