I took it last year, and passed it.
It's 150 questions in 240 minutes, so you really don't have much time searching through the book for answers. My suggestion is to skip the group of questions that deal with the electronics type questions that are at the start of the test, unless your in to that stuff. Go past those to the 10th or 12 question were the actual code questions start. You can go back later if you have time. The test seemed to be in groups of 4 or 5 questions from the same area of the book. I had tha most trouble with Flexible cords (400),
Temporary Exhibits (305.7)(just could not find it fast enough), Hazardous Locations, (500) and Health Care facilities, (517) The hardest part of the code book has to be the very beginning, Chapter 13-12 Enforcement, there are a lot of questions on this part of the book and no way to reference them in the index.

OK, thanks a lot. That helps. I could have sworn the packet I got said 50 questions, but if you took it and it was 150, you obviously know.

Do you remember if there were any questions on voltage drop calcs and calcs from Art. 220 (residence loads, feeders, etc.) ?

I'm fairly strong on Health Care but sounds like I need to bone up on cords, etc.

Thanks again for the help. We need this one for some work we have coming up and I understand they only give it a few times a year, so it's do or die.

From what I remember there was not a lot of math questions, there may have been basic load questions about ranges and kva.
There will be questions regarding ART. 220 but no long drawn out figuring, there just isn't time for it.
You may know this already, but your Chicago code book must be unmarked. No tabs, No underlines, No highlights or markings.
They will announce this before the test and say they are going to check, but they did not check mine.

I don't think you have to be licensed to work in the electrical department at Home Depot.
How did you guess!
I know I can't take the traffic. Do people really do that every day ???
I hear ya! Yet Washington State gives you a lot of practice on how to wait in traffic!
