I am estimating a remodel for an 1800 sq ft child care center in Florida. The facility was originally a duplex built in the 60's.
Since it was a residence, much of the original wiring was 14 ga copper, 15 amp.

Is new 15 amp wiring still code compliant or can it still be used if existing ?

Best check with local codes, in NY when there is a change in use (residential to commercial), additional requirements and upgrades specific to new use would come into play, and each jurisdiction would have individual criteria for local codes. Don't know about Florida. Not aware of any specific nec requirement beyond wire size - ocp, I'd have to research. Even if nothing else I would put TRs on given new use is a child care center.
