I don't do that sort of thing myself. But for the benefit of those who do, may I ask for a clarification of the question. Are you talking about installing the light strings themselves, or installing a set of GFCI receptacles so that there is something to plug the strings into?

You know, if the phone hasn't been ringing off the hook lately, that could be an avenue to look at. Usually considered to be in the realm of handymen or weekend warriors, but in actuality could become a great way to hook into new customers for other service work. Hmmmmmm....

My brother in-law lives in San Antonio and they pay to have it done.

So there is a market for it.

Whatever they pay it is worth it.:grin:

We did not specify whose the lights were upon removal got a call when the crew left with the lights. All proposals thereafter were specific.

I have never heard of anyone paying to put up Christmas lights. It's been DIY as long as I can remember. It's more of an activity than a chore for people around here. It's a chore for me so I don't do it. I might go so far as to put a green and an red bulb in the porch lights.....

Given that so many of these instalations are electrically dodgy you may wish to consider whether you want to put a bargepole (or indeed 20ft of sched 80) between you and this job.

I've installed them before for some of our commercial clients. The customer buys new lights every year because t-shoting, removal and storage is offset by the relative low cost of Christmas lights.

If a customer hires a contractor I think it should be an EC. Heck, it's even covered in the NEC.

People used to joke that it must be Halloween, because John is putting up his Christmas lights. Would take me about 4 good weekends to put them up and then we would have the grand lighting on Thanksgiving. Since we've moved and now have a two story house I don't do them anymore. Went from being voted one of the best displays in the city to nothing.

I had to do it my self, I wouldn't have been able to afford to pay someone.
