I know that 210.52(D) requires at least one receptacle to be installed within 3 feet of a sink basin.

Does this same requirement apply for an outlet installed in a place that is not a dwelling unit such as a church bathroom?

I looked but can't seem to find whether it's allowed or not in the Code book.

It is not required. But it is allowed. Put one in if you want (i.e., if the client wants), or leave it out if that is the preference. But if it is installed, it must have GFCI protection.

It is the house of the Lord. I would go with the gfi myself when I go to heaven I dont want to hear about how I cheaped out in the bathroom.

 Now that's funny right there!

I'd probably put one in too. Whoever works in the bathroom (plumber, electrician) might appreciate it. If the bathroom is sufficiently large, a piece of floor cleaning equipment might be needed in there from time to time also. In some churches, it's not uncommon for a visiting missionary or evangelist to use the church's restroom in the same manner some of us use our home bathrooms (hair dryer, curling iron, electric razor, etc.). Just some stuff to think about.

Don't think I have ever heard of such a good answer. The only thing I have to say is I might put in two GFCI's. Semper Fi.
