I've got a job where CIC wire was pulled up a high rise riser and we are now being called out for fitting and conduit type according to the UL listed specifications on the product data cut sheets. Set screw- out Compression- in...Anyways, there are basically 2 companies that make CIC cable these days as far as i know Radix and Comtran and only Radix makes 14awg and 16awg. Radix has a way better wire fill allowance and on the spec sheet allows for set screw fittings, we pulled the other brand :( Anyone ever run into these issues? It's all about the 2 hour rating, for those who don't know. Any insight on why the restrictions on installation are so stringent? Seriously, you can't have more than a 12"x12" terminal or pull can and you have to use these ridiculous ceramic stand offs for terminations within the FATC....oh well. Love to hear from someone else who knows my struggle. Thanks.

Windy City Wire has recently gotten their CIC product listed. Get their contact information off their web site and give them a call. They haven't gotten around to putting a cut sheet on their web site yet.

Thier fire ratings are base don specific tests done with specific raceway configurations.

It doesn't mean that someday, the same CIC product will be acceptable with set screw, but the manuf has to test it specifically with an NRTL.
