It would appear that previous workers had dropped or otherwise lost the OEM panel cover screws and would simply use whatever sheet metal screws they happened to have handy.
Am I the only one who uses magnetic mechanics' dishes when doing panel and other electrical work?

No. But I use the magnets out of big speakers. I get 'em for free from a local electronics store.

I have a magnet on a telescoping stick to pick up small items, and a bar magnet I use to clean the metal shavings out of the bottom of boxes etc. when I use a uni-bit or hole saw. I put the panel cover screws back in the holes they come out of so they dont get lost....

Do you put the magnet in a sack, or wrap it with paper/plastic? If not, try it. It makes cleaning the magnet much easier.

I use short hex head 10x3/4 screws if the screws are misplaced
I always use the same kind of screws
Nothing makes me madder than panel screws one hex head, one straight head, one Phillips head and so on
I always have extra screws in my stash but that is what I do if needed
Semper Fi Buddy
P.S. Like the commit about Bob's finger

Whenever I replace an old panel, I always keep the old panel cover screws. I keep 'em in a container in the truck, and always have a supply of all those oddballs.

Me too.:)
