Circuit tracers

This location is a small factory with conduit running here and there, and pretty much no accurate panel listings. I would like to get a circuit tracer that would let me trace the various circuits back to the breaker. Maximum distance is probably 100 feet. I have a cheap one that is worse than no tracer at all.

I am looking for brand/model recommendations. Accuracy is more important than being able to do many circuits in one fell swoop. One outlet at a time will still get the job done. The kind you plug into an outlet and check the panel would be great.

I use an Amprobe AT-2005. I've had it for probably 9 years now, works great for what you're doing.

I haven't researched what is being offered lately, since I bought tracer years ago, but I remember Ideal also had a similar offering that looked like it would work well too. May be more to choose from now.

there are several threads here about this, covering everything currently available.

expect to spend some pretty steep change for a good one. you get what you pay for.
i've got three. they are like golf clubs. some are better in one thing than another.

amprobe ct-326-B $750 (down from $900) best single wire tester. austin wrights original design, unchanged in 25 years.

tasco cm42ds $1295 (the best choice for what you want to do. flat awesome)

Ideal Circuit Tracer Kit 61-959 $1550 (door number three. other two are better, but it does some stuff better.)

if i had to settle for one, i'd pick the tasco first.
if ya wanted one used, i'd sell the ideal for $600. excellent condition, minimal usage. PM if interested.

If you are just tracing energized then the Amprobe CT-326 is a very good choice.
