We pay nothing, back in the 60's we had the same problem, and all the the electrical contractors went to the state law makers and had then change the laws to establish a state Board of Electrical Contractors, and license all contractors state wide, and make it illegal for the towns to charge a fee, it has worked well for the past 40 years.

We have the same thing, except the last line

Well I pay 425.00, how'd you get the discount?
Did you ask about the permit?:roll:

Hope it isn't a two-trip commercial inspection if you haven't allowed for it, cause it'll be about . . .

450.00

To compete with those that can't or won't pull permits, we really have to use some salesmanship around here. :) ;)

In SC, we are state licensed....but the cities charge a "business" license fee. So we have to pay a base of $108 and change, assuming we live in the city...mine is Greenville (more for non residents), then get to pay a little bit on every thousand dollars of work we do be it in or out of the city.

This is in addition to the fees the state charges. Also, every city does this so it can get pricey.

It must have been my charming personality that got me the discount.
I'll be staying in town as I am based out of Cincinnati. It will be a 3 trip inspection trench, rough & final.
Any clue as to why the registration rate is so high?
And what's up with the 25,000 bond?, most cities only require a 10,000 bond.
