Class 1 Div 1 area enclosure

Contractor is suggesting installing Stainless Steel NEMA 1 electrical gutter in Class 1 Div 1 area. I thought the enclosure has to be NEMA 7.

I could not find in NEMA classification that Stainless Steel NEMA 1 can be used in Class 1 Div 1 area. Before i reject the proposal i want to make sure his suggesting is OK.

if it is being used as an enclosure it has to be listed as suitable for C1D1.

If it is being used as raceway, it has to be one of the allowed wiring methods in C1D1 areas. see 501.10 (A).

If it is being used for intrinsically safe circuit conductors, it might well be acceptable.

ETA: I don't recall ever seeing any type 1 SS wireway or gutter.
