Disregard. I told owner to verify his equipment (he is installing the batteries in) is intrinsically safe.

Presumably you are asking about a device of some sort that had these batteries in them and not just two loose batteries.

In general, the answer would be no.

However, there are instruments and radios that are rated as intrinsically safe that have batteries in them.

And of course the battery containing device could be located inside an XP enclosure.
