Can two or more Intrinsic Circuits share the same Cable Tray Cable into a Class 1 Division 2 Area? :happyno: :happysad:

I have Valve in the C1D2 area and need verification of the valves position, I would like to run one cable to the valve's operator to determine the valve actual status, but it seams that I remember something about Intrinsic circuits could not be in the same cable?:dunce:

Intrinsic components will be "Sick"

Please advise

The only thing that I can think of that would prohibit IS circuits in the same cable is if the control drawing indicates you cannot.

I don't recall with absolute certainty but I seem to recall they can be in the same cable but have to have separate shields for each circuit.

To that point, you might want to review 504.30(3)(B) IF your cables are going to extend beyond the Tray or Raceway.

The complete story is in Section 504.30(B). BTW insulation less than .01in. (10 mils) is pretty hard to come by.
