Can i use a aluminum body Lb75 3mhr with gasket conduit body in a class 1 division 2 paint area?
thanks
thanks
I'm not sure what 501.10 (5) is; I think you meant 501.10(B)(4), but the basic statement is correct. Except for the references to where they may be required to be explosionproof, boxes and fittings may be for locations they are otherwise suitable.See 501.10 (5) but with a few exceptions they would be OK.

That's a good point; however, there are plenty of Division 2 locations associated with paint applications. See the various Figure(s) 516.3(D)xxxx.I think that on offshore oil rigs, they use aluminum on most everything, D1 & D2. LBs would not be used in D1 however. If it's a paint application, are your certain it's D2?

Why can't one use something like an Appleton ERLB50 explosionproof LB conduit body in a D1 area?LBs would not be used in D1 however.
- Aluminum RMC and its associated fittings are fine where installed per Sections 344.10(A)(3) and (B)(2).
- They must be listed per Section 344.6 but NOT specifically for Classified Locations.
- Section 501.10(A)(1)(a) and by back reference in Section 501.10(B)(1)(1) specifically permit various forms of RMC and their associated fittings in Classified Locations.
- Class I, Division 1 boxes and fittings must comply with Section 501.10(A)(3).
- Class I, Division 2 boxes and fittings only need to comply with Section 501.10(B)(4) with a few limitations as noted previously.
- Section 500.8(C)(6)(a) does not require boxes and fittings to be specifically marked for Classified Locations.
Your Aluminum LB is fine in the application as described.
That should cover the OP.
