Is there a minimum size wire conductor for Class 2 wire? I'm talking about Class 2 (low Voltage), not Class II (hazardous area).
I looked and there does not appear to be any minimum size. Oddly enough, the NEC doesn?t even specify that the wire has to be suitable to carry the current for the circuit. It does say it is permitted to use article 300 wiring methods, but that is not a requirement.
Class 1 and Class 3-single-conductor wires need to be 18 or larger. But Class 2 wire does not have a minimum of 18. For instance, Class 2 Type PLTC needs to be 12 to 22AWG.
