I'm doing explosive dust lab for a university. They will be conducting experiments with Group E, F and G. Evidently, E, metallic dust, is the problem child here.

I had thought that by going to Div 2 (and I did confirm with the University that this is truly a Div 2 area based on the NEC definition - I have it in writing) we'd be able to put receptacles in the lab. Come to find out Crouse Hinds does not make a receptacle for Class 2, Div 2, Group E (F and G yes but not E). If they don't, I assume no one does - if anyone knows otherwise, I'd love to know about it.

Also a surprise was that I can't just use dust proof fixtures, they must be listed and therefore we're talking about a very expensive Crouse Hinds type fixture. It seems perfectly clear that this is what it's got to be. Still before I present this to my client, a sanity check would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike
