Class 2 transformer above suspended ceiling.

Can a wall wart type 24V tranny be installed (plugged into a receptacle) above a drop ceiling? This would be the type that has 2 secondary terminal screws for class 2 wiring, no 400 here.

I looked in 725. These will power access control panels.

Yes.

There may be a issue if the ceiling is used as a plenum though.

I haven't seen a plenum ceiling in a new building in a long time, very common in old buildings though.

Definitely, when you run into them they usually arent done correctly, and they are a huge pain!

I sure have seen them. Was on job few years ago and plumber had major issues with his PVC.
Would think they be more carefull when bidding.
Same building had problem with the IT people. Was stupid but i had to run some 3 inch conduit for 10 feet cause they goofed and did not run plenum rated lines.
