Does any know how this is applied. I have a potential customer relocating his wood shop and will need all machines wired and new 3 phase 600 amp panel installed. I have been trying to get the inspector on the phone for the last 2 weeks with no luck. My question is: will all equipment including lights need to be dustproof even with a dust collection system? Also this customer says someone informed him that distance to the dustsource determines if it needs to be a dustproof fixture. Is there any truth to that. Thanks for any input.

Should this not be classified as Class II, Division I maybe. Why class III?
According to the NEC handbook class 3 locations "usually include, sawmills and other woodworking plants, where sawdust woodshavings and combustable fibers are present". This is a 8500 sq ft light industrial building where they plan on making custom reproduction antique doors and windows. I didnt think it would be a class 2 location. I know utimately it is the AHJ call, I just cant seem to corner him at this time and need to submit an estimate ASAP.
