I'm examining some bills of materials for some of my company's products, and I'm seeing class cc fuses listed with class j fuse holders. I realize that these are two different sizes of fuses, so I am given to believe that the cc fuse should not be able to fit in the j fuse holder and that there is a mistake in the BOMs. Before I go investigate further, is this a correct assumption?

No. Up to 30A they do look similar, but a Class J fuse is 2-1/2" long and a Class CC is 1-1/2" long. So it's not even close.
Above 30A they don't even look similar.
