I'm trying to decide wiring methods for a pump motor situated at the base of a bulk storage tank which holds motor oil. The pump is used to fill portable plastic tanks and tubs which are then loaded on a truck. The motor is about 6" off the floor.

I frequently get confused by the chapter 5 definitions when trying to decide on wiring methods and whether equipment needs to be explosion proof or not.

I'm leaning towards a TEFC motor with liquidtight to condulet, with start stop station located in front of pump (at loading area ) in a nema 12 box.

Any comments?

Thanks.

I'm a little rusty myself, but the motor oil is not flammable, its combustible, so it's not a hazardous area.
