As per 503.10 A (1)(2), Where would I find a Dust tight fitting for MC or MI cable assembly? I can't say as I have seen such a critter. Thanks.

Did you hear George is a licensed Master Electrician in Colorado? Pretty neat hu?

I see how it could be confusing, but if the MC or MI cable fitting is listed for Class III, it is acceptable. Section 503.10 (A) is the basic rule. A common coupling is also a fitting by definition; it isn?t marked dust tight either, but it is recognized as an integral part of the wiring method. Likewise, listed MC or MI cable termination fittings are an integral part of the wiring method.

Bob, I like your thinking, but, I am not sure if all of the inspectors will. If it isn't labeled as per 110.3. I see the black and white becoming quite gray. Example, acorn clamps, some are listed with UG for that purpose. At a distance they look alike.

Sections 330.40 and 332.40 both call for the termination fittings to be listed and identified for the use. Since they are specified in the respective MC and MI Articles it is hard to see how they aren't simply integral parts of the wiring methods.

Actually though, the odds are pretty high that, if the termination fitting is listed for MC or MI cable, it will also be listed for Class I, II and III. It is sort of like common unions - I've never seen one that wasn't listed for Class I, II and III. (This does not include "Eriksons")

I think you are on to something there. I'll give it some more reading and thinking, but I am leaning your direction. Thanks, I appreciate it.
