Our facility has a number of 480V outdoor distribution centers connected with flexible fine-stranded welding or mining cable landing in the panels on standard compression terminal lugs rated for Class B or C stranded wire.

I am currently trying to clean up one of these installations and need to properly adapt a 4/0-4 MSHA flex cable with Class N 19x111/30 stranding (a total of 2109 strands) to standard SquareD compression lugs. I have looked at Burndy HYPLUG and Greaves Shoo-Pin connectors. Both are FSW-rated, but neither is specifically marked for Class N stranding. The UL White Book states "Wire connectors additionally rated for other class conductors (besided B or C), such as Class M, are marked with the additional class designation and number of strands."

Any thoughts on proper termination methods?

Thanks!
Steve
