Class K wire terminations

What is the best way to make a connection between #10 AWG solid copper and a #10 AWG class k copper wire (consisting of 104 #30 AWG)? Is there a wire nut product that will make this connection or some other means required to meet intent of NEC 110.14?

I've used these (or a Polaris-type connector, depending on size) with fine stranded wire:

However, I also always use ferrules when landing fine stranded wire:

I had an inspector tell me that as long as I used a ferrule, I didn't have to use a "special" connector rated for fine stranded wire. His view was that the ferrule "solidifies" the termination, as long as it's crimped properly before installation in a terminal. I have a pair of these and they're wonderful:

My shop builds control and lighting panels for the entertainment industry. We list some of our panels to UL 508A; every wire we terminate (with a few special, application specific exceptions) gets a ferrule.
