Classroom portable trailer

I have classroom portable trailer and for receptacles and lights they are using wire 2-#12 NM. Can one use NM wire in classroom portable trailer or not according to NEC 2017? Anyone know

You can use Romex anywhere. You're local codes may prohibit it though. Check with your electrical inspector.

Since it's not a dwelling unit, it would need to be behind a 1 hour fire barrier. (Half inch drywall). Also of the studs are metal, you'll have to get a hole punch and put a rubber grommet in each hole. We electricians usually run MC cable through metal studs.

EDIT: you can't run Romex in wet locations or where subject to physical damage.

Nothing really prohibits NM cable in a school building as long as you are not in an area that can be classified as a place of assembly and you have at least a 15 minute finish. Typical classroom usually not large enough to be a place of assembly larger lecture hall style rooms maybe can be, this usually be in some high schools or post secondary applications.

It's not specific to school trailers. There are only dwelling units and non dwelling units in the NEC. Look under uses permitted and prohibited in the section for Romex.
You'll need tamper receps if it's a classroom for children.
