We install automated home lighting systems.Typically we will install 40-60 dimmers in two gang boxes in the basement of a residence, adjacent to the panel. These dimmers are controlled by the lighting computer and are not typically accessed by the homeowner
In this case the architect has specified the dimmers be installed under a stairway which has less than 36" from the face of the dimmer to the opposite wall. Is this a violation of section 110.26? Imo, a dimmer does not fall under the requirements of requiring service or maintenance while energized.
Is there a minimum clearance specified for a switch?
