Can we install 480V/3P/60A disconnect switch (serving motor) on wall, above 45KVA or 75kVA transformer? Does it meet code for required clearance? Or it needs to line up with transformer front? Thank you.

IMO it would "likely to require examination, adjustment, servicing or maintenance while engaged" therefore the applicable sections of 110.26 applies and it can not be mounted above a transformer.

The face can be 6 inches behind the face of the transformer.

We build them out when the is limited wall space. Don't ask what those green conductors are for. :)

The one time I worked in an airport we had to put those jumpers in on all flex conduits, it was an FAA thing.

No requirement on the job in the photo just supervision who didn't have a clue. The proper size SSBJ and EGC's were already in the raceways but they insisted that these jumpers were "required by code". When asked what size they needed to be they said "just use a #6". They even went as far as to drill and tap the outside of LFMC connectors to install the jumpers. What a waste of someones money. :slaphead:

Am I the only one reading this as a maintenance disconnect that does not need to meet the 110.26 requirements?

On the other side of the coin, when the equipment fails I seen very few instances when the electrician won't check the disconnect for the presence of voltage.

110.26 has long been unclear as to exactly what it is supposed to cover. "likely to require examination, adjustment, servicing, or maintenance while energized" leaves the door wide open to interpretation.

Many AHJ's do take the position that if there is no overcurrent device then 110.26 clearances don't apply, but not all do. Thing is, as written one can take it to mean any point where you can take a voltage or current reading needs clearance, that would include a general purpose junction box as well.
