I have some 8' open bulb fluorescents that will be installed above a garage door (when in its open position). While I know that it is very unlikely that the door would ever hit the lamps at any point during travel, are there any issues with heat, and also, is this a code violation in any way. I have searched and could not find an answer outside of closet lighting clearances.
With the door in the open position, there is about 2 inches clearance between the bulbs and the highest point of the door itself.
