I have a proposed service drop that would pass over a commercial parking lot that has rented shipping containers on it. Does anyone know what the typical height above grade these reach while being loaded and unloaded? I imagine the typical 18ft is adequate, but want to double check.

If it's anything like a roll-off dumpster, those things stand practically on end when they're unloading/loading...

The ones we have delivered use a fairly low rise tilt deck and they use a winch for loading/unloading, I believe. I wouldn't worry about it if your at 18 feet.

Just remember, the rolloff box trucks tilt to a much higher angle because they have to empty the debris from the rolloff boxes. That is not the case with shipping containers.
