Im trying to find a section in the code regarding maximum distance from the meter to the panel. I believe its 8 feet maximum, but am having trouble actuall finding it in the book. Any help would be great.

There is no distance. If you mean the distance from when it enters the building there may be local amendments but not an NEC issue. NEC states as near as possible when it enters the building. If it is on the exterior then there is no limit. I can have a meter on one end of the building and the main panel on the other side as long as I don't run my conductors thru the building.
