Clearances from LP (propane) tank

I'm looking for help with the following.

We are placing a 25KW pad mounted transformer on a job. It is what our utility company considers a private service, not a utility company service. We are concerned about the proximity to a 500 gallon LP (propane) tank.

Is there an NEC regulation regarding this manner.

I can't find anything to prohibit the install. I looked in Article 450 & parts of chapter 5. Good luck.

A phone call or e-mail to the propane gas company should produce the specs u need.

To my knowledge there is no NEC requirement. The IFC (International Fire Code) does touch on this. Contact the AHJ or the propane company.

In my area the lp gas co. requires 10 ft. from the dwelling for any thing over 100 gals. as stated the gas co. should have that answer

Sorry that I do not have the standard here in my office, but if I remember correctly, NFPA 58, Section 3-2.2.7 deals with Special Hazards. :smile:

Same here, regardless of tank size.
