Hi guys

I'm wondering if anyone out here has ever needed to have the mechanical integrity of light poles checked. What I have is several 110 foot tall, stand alone lightploes. I know I'll be climbing these suckers this spring to get ready for spring sports at the university. Has anyone ever been down this road before where the pole was questioned, and needed to call in an outfit who can "certify" the pole strength at the base and also the platform on the top which holds the ballast packs and fixtures. Any info would be appreciated as I'll have some time to get my super. to line something up if needed.

I also am wondering what you guys who climb regularly use for fall arrest or fall prevention. I have no equipment at this point. (I am somewhat familiar with the DBI Sala products from a previous employer though.) My poles have a 3/8 cable running the length of them, (harnessing) with climbing bolts out each side.

My last question is where could I find any rules/regs governing this activity...such as what I need to have as far as training, helpers available, pole rescue ???.

Might want to start here .

JLG I believe makes a 133 foot "squirt boom" for tough to reach locations.

Good luck with your project.

This was just what I was looking for. Something I can give my supervisor to research.

Happy Thanksgiving all !!!
