Since clothes closets are getting large enough to big considered "changing rooms", is a pendant light approved for installation in a space used for storage of garments or apparel? Think 12' x 12' space with center dresser. Currently still under 2008 NEC and looking at 410.16(B) for guidance.

What is it called on the plans? Closet or changing room.

The NEC needs to change this to allow any light that has LED technology. The days of burning hot incandescent light bulbs are just about over.

Per nec -- No. however I did have a situation like that and they told me get the plan changed to dressing room rather than closet. In my situation all the clothes were in cabinets within the room so the door would be closed.

It's not only for the clothing that is hanging in the closet. Most people have cardboard boxes, quilts and other combustible materials on the shelves. That's why they also include clothes closet storage space.

They often have that in other closets and storage spaces as well yet NEC really has only addressed "clothes closets" over the years
