CMU Conduit Install

Have a new block wall install. If nothing mentions about having to have conduit recessed or anything else about installation would you install either EMT or RMC surface or recessed in wall? Surface quicker and easier.

EMT surface mounted unless they didn't want to see the tubing on the wall and wanted the devices flush with the wall finish.

The last apartment complex that we did has a specification that in areas accessible to the public all of the raceways had to be within the block wall with flush mounted devices. Anything that was not in the public space was considered "back of house" and could be surface mounted. So yes you should check before the walls go up.
